The Kitchen Project is the expansion and installation of a new commercial grade kitchen with the goal to provide a sustainable source of funding while providing daily meals to the less fortunate in the community.
For the last 50 years, the parish has sponsored a daily meal program which distributes a nutritious meal to at least 100 people each day, 6 days a week. A new upgraded kitchen will allow the Dinner Program to serve even more people due to the efficiency of an industrial grade kitchen
With the installation of a new commercial kitchen, there will be opportunities for those who are interested in building their skill set with cooking and food safety classes.
A new kitchen will also insist in offering classes to members of the community. One such class would be a food and beverage safety training and certification class where participants could receive SERV Safe certification. Community members will also have an opportunity to offer cooking classes that will permit attendees to build a skill set to help with employment prospects.
Since the parish is also seeking potential funding sources, the new kitchen will be used for large, special events that will earn revenue for the parish. The reception of such funding would be directed for the upkeep of the kitchen and the support of other parish service projects and ministries.
This multicultural community is in need of an upgraded, fully functioning kitchen since food is an important aspect of their culture. Every week on Sunday, a different group from the various communities prepare and serve food for sale. The proceeds are shared with the church as a donation.
For the last few years, the parish has been actively fundraising in a variety of ways to support the installation and expansion of the new kitchen.
Completion of the Kitchen Project will most likely occur next year (2025), with construction beginning in the fall of 2024.
